Sandy Hook PSA Warns of Signs of Gun Violence

In this bone-chilling public service announcement from Sandy Hook Promise — the gun violence prevention group founded by families of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting —  a powerful message is driven home.

Evan finally meets the mysterious girl leaving messages for him on a classroom desk. When the star-crossed lovers finally meet, their encounter is halted when an active shooter walks through the school doors. As you’ll see in the video, the clues were there all along.

“We wanted to create an impactful visual to show that violence is preventable if you know the signs. Many people are unaware that there are specific signs that people give off that can indicate a violent act is imminent, Nicole Hockey, co-founder and managing director of Sandy Hook Promise, told CNN. Nicole’s first-grade son, Dylan, was killed in the Sandy Hook massacre. “Everyone has the power to intervene and get help. These actions can save lives.

Every school should have a violence prevention policy in action. While some schools are fortunate to have visitor management software with criminal background checks like KeepnTrack, it takes active involvement from students and staff to look out for the warning signs of potential gun violence.

Does your school have visitor, volunteer, and student management software yet?
